The National Rifle Association approved a $7500 grant for the Bolivar HS AFJROTC to purchase additional equipment for the school's marksmanship program. The funds will allow for six new competition air rifles, a new storage safe, extra parts and supplies, and an Orion Scoring System that will allow for hosting marksmanship competitions at BHS.

AFJROTC is top Air Force Team in national marksmanship competition
The BHS AFJROTC Marksmanship team took first place as the Top Air Force Team in the nationwide Holiday Postal Match hosted by McMichael High School in Mayodan, NC. BHS also placed 2nd in the "Doolie" (first year marksmen) category!

In the coaches division, MSgt. Andy Reno took 1st Place with a score of 282 out of 300 with 8 bullseyes!

Elektra Blue dance team recognized for academic excellence
The BHS dance team was recognized for having the highest GPA at the state dance competition. The team GPA was 3.79!!! In other news, the team was voted online as best dance team in SW Missouri and has been invited to perform June 7th at the Grin-Iron Classic high school all-star football game.

Softball team earns Academic All-State honors
The Lady Liberator softball team earned Academic All-State as a team with a
cumulative unweighted GPA of 3.68.
Team GPA must be greater
than 3.33 to earn this award.

Brandon Wellman recognized in Missouri Scholars 100 program
BHS Senior Brandon Wellman has been selected as honorable mention in the 2013 Missouri Scholars 100 program. The program honors the top 100 academic students in the graduating class of 2013. To be recognized for honorable mention is a noteworthy accomplishment based on 10 academic criteria including ACT scores, GPA, rigorous coursework, exemplary attendance, school citizenship, and involvement in school activity programs.
Bolivar R-1 receives Distinction in Performance at annual banquet
The Bolivar R-1 school district received the Distinction in Performance award from the Missouri Association of School Administrators. Bolivar was represented at the event by a group including students, teachers, administrators, and school board members. Bolivar HS juniors Drew Legan and Alyssa Foster accepted the award for Bolivar.
